Debris Update

Residents,

Collier County Waste Management Department informed us on Monday that they have received approval from FEMA to enter and clear debris from private communities. This is a welcome message as last week’s commissioner’s update was noting 4-6 month wait. There are 400 private communities in the county. Where Villages of Monterey will be on the schedule we are waiting to hear. The County and FEMA representatives will be evaluating developments over the remainder of the week before providing us a date.  The debris pickup could be one week away or 4 months.

Myself and several presidents of other developments have been working to have private developments treated on an equal basis with other parts of town. I know Mike Pelton from Cordoba Circle has been in contact with the waste management department as well. We are being told that our efforts to stay in front of the county should result in us being in the early group. I would like to thank everyone for their efforts. The one thing we have going for us is that VOM has many year-round residents that need relief now and not when we arrive in another month or two.

We will announce a preliminary pick-up date when we hear from the county.

Thank You,

Ron Santangelo and Master Association Board
